And it's inspired by the stunning Lake Como.

It’s that time of the year again, when IG feeds can make you feel like you’re the only one not abroad this summer. But trust us, you’re not alone. Plus, there’s still a way to experience something somewhat akin to a chic Italian vacation while sticking to the 48 continental states. In the heart of Texas Hill Country, Horseshoe Bay Resort has opened the country’s only floating pool.

Horseshoe Bay Resort sourced its inspiration from Lake Como, which is home to three of the most famous and beautiful floating pools in the world. Found at the five-star hotels Villa D’Este, Grand Hotel Tremezzo, and the Mandarin Oriental, these chlorinated bodies of water are suspended above Lake Como to make up for each property’s lack of accessible shoreline.

And while Horseshoe Bay Resort’s floating pool might not sit atop Europe’s most iconic lake, it certainly has its Texan charms. Located less than an hour outside of Austin on Lake Lyndon B. Johnson, the new 2,850-square-foot pool holds 70,000 gallons of water, features a sundeck with lounge chairs and cabanas, and offers unparalleled views of the local shoreline. Swimmers can also order poolside bevs and bites from The Shack, Sand Bar, and H2O Bar at the resort.

Access to the floating pool is complimentary for resort guests, while non-guests have to reserve a daybed from $195 or cabana from $385.

“With the launch of the Waterfront Floating Pool, we are setting a new standard for lakeside fun and demonstrating our dedication to truly enhancing the guest experience with elevated thoughtful on-property offerings,” says Managing Director of Horseshoe Bay Resort Randy Zupanski.

In addition to the floating pool, Horseshoe Bay Resort contains plenty of summer fun like an inflated obstacle course/water park, three golf courses, 18-hole putting course, watersport rentals and lessons, and tennis, pickleball, and sand volleyball courts.

So while laps above Lake Como might have to wait until next summer—we can’t help but daydream with help from the #lakecomofloatingpool search on TikTok)—Horseshoe Bay Resort is a reputable placeholder.

Also, keep an eye out as the country’s next floating pool is slated to join NYC’s stunning squad of chlorinated oases in 2025.
